

Controller
Summary:
Browne Consulting Group is a boutique consulting firm providing accounting, finance, and human resource support to venture backed start-ups and to publicly traded life science and technology companies. We’re in search for a highly motivated full-time Controller who is eager to make a huge difference in our client’s businesses. In this role, you’ll provide part-time Controller services to 4 to 6 clients simultaneously through a combination of remote work and on-site meetings in the Cambridge area and Boston suburbs.
You will become a key part-time member of each client’s fast-growing organization, where you will learn about and understand their business model, all while being the accounting expert and day-to-day point of contact that they will rely on. Clients will count on you to help develop financial controls and procedures, manage the accounting, finance and HR aspects of fast-growing companies, and supervise junior accounting staff as each company scales from seed stage through Series A and beyond.
Responsibilities:
The candidate will be the day-to-day point of contact for several clients and responsibilities include:

Manage the monthly close and annual reporting process

Prepare investor and board related financial reports and decks

Produce budgets, variance analysis, and cash flow forecasts

Work with external Audit, Tax, and Valuation firms

Own and update the cap table

On board new employees and process payroll

Maintain census and employee records

Oversee the 401(k) plan, compliance, and reporting

Work with our benefits broker to setup and maintain health benefits

Maintain corporate insurance policies and other business administration responsibilities

Initially handle all A/P and vendor payments
Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA or Master’s preferred

CPA required; Big 4 or top tier public accounting firm experience preferred

7+ years of progressive accounting experience required

Previous experience working in Life Science or Technology companies desired

Traveling onsite to clients in the Cambridge suburbs and working remotely two days per week.
